What to Wear to Formal Events

Do you have a job interview coming up? Or an office party and have no idea what to wear? No worries, we’ve got you. Wearing formal outfits can be a bit difficult as sometimes the topic is a bit subjective, but have no fear, here is a guide to help you with your dilemma! Formal events do not always mean being modest all the way, you can definitely spice up your outfit with these simple tips!

1) Blazer

A tailored blazer can instantly transform a simple outfit into a modest and formal one. This creates a sophisticated and smart style. When choosing a suitable blazer for your outfit, make sure to match it to your trousers. Wearing a blazer the same colour as your shirt, will make it clash. Try and keep your blazer and trousers the same material so you’re matching well.

2) Nude/Black Heels

Wearing regular pumps to a formal event will make your fit complete. Wearing trainers or sandals is a no- no when it comes to formal events. You can find your favourite pumps anywhere, and remember try to keep it black or nude or even, you can pair it to the colour of your shirt.

3) Tailored Trousers

A pair of some nice, tailored trousers is essential. Our favourites are black, brown and navy. You can even get these in sets with a suitable blazer. You can get pleated trousers high waisted and pair it with a nice belt to seem more ‘put- together’

4) Pencil Skirt

Of course, we had to add the classic pencil skirt to the list. The perfect thing about the pencil skirt is that it comes in a variety of styles for your preferences. You can get stretchy material types or sturdy fitted ones. Wear with sheer tights if you want a more modest and formal fit. Try keeping your skirt knee length.

5) Opaque Shirt

Last of all you want to wear an appropriate shirt. Try opt for more neutral colour and make sure the neckline isn’t too cut down! Its very important you go for an opaque shirt; sheer ones seem see through and it isn’t very formal.
