Nesavaali London - Best Newcomer Of Year 2019 - Boutique Star Awards
The industry’s leading independent fashion retailers and brands have been crowned at the inaugural Boutique Star Awards held this week at The Deck inside London’s iconic National Theatre.
A glittering winners’ party took place on Tuesday 8 October compèred by television presenter Hayley Sparkes. The glitzy event was attended by 100 industry insiders and sponsored by leading British occasionwear brands City Goddess and Goddiva. Guests celebrated against a backdrop of the capital’s famous skyline with a Prosecco reception, entertainment from a jazz duo as well as a selection of hot and cold food.
With 12 categories up for grabs including British Brand of the Year and Lifetime Achievement, the Boutique Star Awards launched in celebration of the vibrant independent fashion retail industry.
Among the biggest winners of the evening included Derbyshire indie group Young Ideas, which scooped a total of three accolades for Womenswear Independent of the Year and Independent Group of the Year while its countrywear specialist Henmores was named Multi-Channel Independent of the Year.
Presenter Hayley Sparkes congratulated all of the shortlisted boutiques and brands for reaching the finalist stage of the national competition. Meanwhile, Boutique magazine publisher Julie Neill also took to the stage to thank sponsors City Goddess and Goddiva as well as all the attendees for supporting the event. She commented:
“Ever since Boutique magazine’s launch some 10 years ago, our mission has always been to help and support both independent retailers and their suppliers throughout their journey and so it was a natural step to honour you all with an awards ceremony. We were thrilled by the standard of entries that we received and every single one of you that made the shortlist deserves an award in our eyes. Every person in this room tonight shares a love and passion for our industry and it’s great to have the chance to raise a glass together to everyone’s dedication and success.”
The evening’s winners also included sustainable swimwear label Naeco for British Brand of the Year, Danish footwear designer Lofina for International Brand of the Year, Capri Clothing for Fashion Distributor of the Year and Joanna Edwards Agency for Fashion Agency of the Year. Other Retailers taking home a Boutique Star Award also included Haygen for Creative VM Independent of the Year, Tilletts for Social Media Channel of the Year and Caroline Clark Bridal for Occasionwear Specialist of the Year. Two special awards chosen by the Boutique magazine team were also presented to James Lakeland for Lifetime Achievement and Nesavaali for Newcomer.
The winners were chosen by an esteemed judging panel made up of industry insiders including Deryane Tadd, owner of award-winning indie The Dressing Room, Bira CEO Andrew Goodacre, Sam Burgess, founder of content marketing agency Small and Mighty, Helen Farrington, programme leader at the Fashion Retail Academy and Boutique magazine editor Gemma Ward.
